Last year, fans enjoyed an exceptional entry in the franchise A Quiet Place. But A Quiet Place: Day One wasn't a continuation of the story that captivated worldwide audiences in 2018 and 2021, respectively. A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II tells the story of the Abbott family, a few of the many survivors of an alien invasion that forces humankind to start living in absolute silence. Fans are still eager to know what happened to the surviving Abbotts, and according to producer Brad Fuller, they will find out soon enough. A Quiet Place Part III is still on track and in active development.
Fuller spoke to The Direct while at SXSW Festival to promote The Astronaut, his latest film starring Kate Mara, Laurence Fishburne and Gabriel Luna. The producer, known for his work on franchises like The Purge, Ouija, and a slew of horror remakes in the 2000s, offered a surprising update on the future of the franchise A Quiet Place. He was quick to say that the 2024 prequel A Quiet Place: Day One shouldn't be considered the third chapter of the series, as Part III of the first timeline is in development. They only need director John Krasinski to clear his schedule:
"So, Day One is not A Quiet Place 3 just to be clear... A Quiet Place 3, we're starting to put it together right now. You know, when we made the first one, John [Krasinski] didn't have a lot on his plate. He had just come off The Office, and he wanted to be a director.
Now, he's so in demand, and it's hard to get him... He's making a movie now, so as soon as he finishes that, hopefully, he will turn his attention to [A Quiet Place 3]. We all want to finish that trilogy, and I'm hopeful there's even more Quiet Place movies beyond that."

A Quiet Place Part II: Why It's a Superior Sequel
A Quiet Place Part II raises the bar for the horror genre, proving that sequels can be just as effective as their original source work.
The first entry of A Quiet Place followed the Abbotts as they survived the extermination of humankind. After aliens invade the planet, the family is able to escape by following the rules: the massive creatures are ultra-sensitive to sound, and their potential prey can stay safe by living in complete silence. In Part II, the Abbotts have lost one member of the family, and they are forced to go on the run and look for other survivors. Both movies were acclaimed by critics and audiences, and they were massive horror blockbusters.
'A Quiet Place: Day One' Set the Franchise's Value in Stone

2024 saw the release of a prequel that surprisingly became one of the most successful horror films of the year. A Quiet Place: Day One provided fans of the franchise with an overview of how everything began from the very first day of the invasion. Told from the perspective of two quite compelling lead characters, the prequel amassed more than $261 million at the box office, and earned an 86% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It was one of the best horror films of the year.
Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, writers and creators of the film series, recently teased plans to take the franchise even further with international spin-offs that could show the invasion from the perspective of survivors living overseas. But their take isn't a coincidence. It's actually the result of Day One doing great at the box office. Even though it was a standalone prequel with none of the original characters, it was effective enough to prove to everyone that the franchise is far from over.
